Dubai’s Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has approved the Dh2 billion ‘Therme Dubai’ project, set to be the world’s tallest wellbeing resort.

Located in Zabeel Park, the groundbreaking development will integrate wellness, relaxation, and entertainment, redefining Dubai’s urban landscape.

Therme Dubai

Announced in line with the UAE’s ‘Year of the Community,’ Therme Dubai will be the first-of-its-kind wellbeing resort in the Middle East. The project aims to enhance quality of life, attract global investment, and support medical tourism.

With an estimated cost of Dh2 billion, the project is being developed in partnership with global wellbeing leader Therme Group. The funding will come from a consortium of local and international financiers. Expected to open in 2028, the resort is set to welcome up to 1.7 million visitors annually.

The announcement took place at NASAB Resort, Wadi Al Safa, where Sheikh Hamdan was received by Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Supreme Urban Planning Committee and Director General of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority. Other key figures in attendance included Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and top government and corporate leaders, including Helal Saeed Al Marri, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Marwan bin Ghalita, and Robert C. Hanea, Chairman and CEO of Therme Group.

Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan

The project supports the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which prioritises creating vibrant, healthy communities. Therme Dubai will promote wellness and healthcare while reinforcing the city’s competitiveness as a global destination for investment and tourism.

Therme Dubai is poised to boost the city’s medical tourism industry, offering visitors unique, health-focused experiences. The resort will feature a blend of wellness treatments, relaxation areas, and entertainment spaces, all designed to enhance physical and mental wellbeing.

Therme Dubai will span 500,000 square feet and rise 100 metres high, making it the tallest facility of its kind globally. It will integrate cutting-edge sustainability practices, ensuring minimal environmental impact.

The resort will offer a Michelin-star restaurant, three 18-metre waterfalls, and indoor and terrace pools covering 4,500 square metres. A dedicated play area will feature 15 waterslides and interactive art installations.

Therme Dubai’s design prioritises eco-conscious operations. The facility will recycle 90% of its thermal pool water and source 80% of its cooling needs from clean energy solutions. The architectural design, led by global firm DS+R (Diller Scofidio + Renfro), integrates nature and water to enhance the urban landscape.

Relax Zone: A tranquil retreat for adults, with thermal pools, steam rooms, and mineral water treatments.

Restore Zone: A rejuvenation-focused area, featuring expansive saunas, steam rooms, and hydrotherapy experiences.

World’s largest indoor botanical garden

A key highlight of Therme Dubai is its indoor botanical garden, set to be the world’s largest. The garden will house over 200 plant species, supporting urban biodiversity and providing a lush natural environment for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Visitors will experience spa and bathing traditions from around the world, including Roman and Turkish baths, Japanese hot springs, Nordic saunas, and hammams. Multi-sensory saunas, therapeutic mineral pools, wave pools, and immersive art will further enhance the visitor experience.

A cultural and wellbeing hub

Beyond its wellness offerings, Therme Dubai will serve as a cultural hub, showcasing art and technology-driven experiences from across the globe. Hundreds of water and art activities will be available, making the resort a must-visit destination.

Therme Dubai is designed to establish Dubai as a premier global wellness tourism hub. With its ‘Wellbeing for All’ philosophy, the project aims to make health and relaxation accessible to residents and visitors alike.

Therme Group, renowned for its wellbeing destinations worldwide, is spearheading the project. The company’s existing locations include Therme Bucharest, the world’s first LEED Platinum-certified wellbeing facility, and Therme Erding, the world’s largest wellbeing resort.

With construction set to commence soon, Therme Dubai is on track to become one of the most transformative wellbeing projects in the region.
